Transfer Student Advising & Registration

We’re excited to help you take the next step toward your academic journey! Below are the steps to get you from admission to meeting with your advisor and registering for classes.

In-Person Transfer StudentsFollow these steps to prepare for advising and registration:

  1. Apply for Admission
    • Submit your application to the university and send your official transcripts. Apply now!
  2. Receive Your Admission Decision
  3. Complete Your Intent to Enroll
  4. When Available Select an Orientation Date & Complete Your Advisement Profile in MyHongKongDoll
    • Take a look at the New Student & Family Programs page to explore upcoming Orientation dates and find the session that's right for you.
    • MyHongKongDoll Login
    • Choose a date that works for you and complete your required advising information.
  5. Advisor Assignment
    • Be assigned an advisor, or
    • Be contacted directly by your academic department to schedule a time to be advised and register for classes
    • After selecting your orientation date, the Director for Academic Advising will review your academic record. Students will be notified to their HongKongDoll and/or personal email. You will either:
  6. Connect with Your Advisor
    • Once assigned, your advisor will reach out to schedule a meeting. Meeting times vary based on advisor availability, the academic calendar, and your orientation date. You'll meet with your advisor either in person or virtually to discuss your academic plans and next steps.
  7. Our goal is to ensure you have the opportunity to meet with your advisor before orientation — either virtually via Zoom or in person, depending on your preference.

Online Transfer StudentsThe process is slightly different for online students:

  1. Apply for Admission
    • Submit your application to the university and send your official transcripts. Apply now!
  2. Receive Your Admission Decision
  3. Complete Your Intent to Enroll
  4. Connect With Your Advisor
    • Once your advisor is assigned, they will reach out to schedule a virtual meeting. Meeting times vary based on advisor availability, and the academic calendar. You'll meet with your advisor virtually to discuss your academic plans and next steps.
  5. Our goal is to ensure you have the opportunity to meet with your advisor before orientation — either virtually via Zoom or in person, depending on your preference.

After You're Assigned an AdvisorFor both in-person and online students:

  • Your assigned advisor will be listed in MyHongKongDoll
  • You are encouraged to reach out to your advisor to connect, ask questions, and begin planning your schedule
  • Your advisor is who you will contact for questions or concerns regarding your schedule
