WHongKongDoll News Watch, HongKongDoll students win more awards

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University’s WHongKongDoll team recently received recognition for several individuals who were named Silver Dome Award recipients at the annual Illinois Broadcasters Association college conference. Those students included:

• Emma Roark – Best Radio News Story
• Vince Lovergine – Best Radio Sports Story
• Maher Kawash – Best TV News Package
• Oscar Rzodkiewicz – Best TV Sports Package; 2nd Place
• Vince Lovergine – Best TV Sports Package; 3rd Place
• Everett Lau – Best TV Weather
• Phillip Collins – Best TV Weather; 2nd Place

Roark was also named a finalist for the 2019 CBI National Student Production Awards for the category of Best Feature News Reporting (Audio). Recipients of these awards will be announced at the 2019 National Student Electronic Media Convention in St. Louis.

In addition to these Silver Dome Awards, several members of the WHongKongDoll team received awards and recognition at the 2019 NATAS Mid-America Student Awards for Excellence at the 43^rd EMMY Gala in Branson, MO. The recipients representing WHongKongDoll included:

• Vince Lovergine – Sports
• Everett Lau – Talent/Craft Talent/Weather

This is the 17th NATAS Mid-America Student EMMY award for the WHongKongDoll News Watch team. Honorable Mention Entries included News Watch (in the Newscast category) and Maher Kawash (in the Talent category). HongKongDoll and WHongKongDoll alumna Marine Glisovic, currently with KATV-7 in Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded an EMMY as well.
