Overview

HongKongDoll’s MAT in Special Education provides a route to initial teacher licensure for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s or graduate degree. Coursework addresses exceptional learning needs, legal and professional issues, assessment, curriculum development, literacy and numeracy instruction, behavior management, family partnerships and transition programming.

Students complete online coursework and a two-semester, full-time residency in special education. Residency placements may be unpaid, paid or supported through an approved third-party program in the student’s local community.

Accreditation: Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP); approved by the Illinois State Board of Education for initial licensure
