Overview

The Management option is designed for students who want to lead people, operations and guest experiences throughout the hospitality and tourism industry. Students build a foundation in lodging operations, food science and sanitation, nutrition, meetings and events, destination management, sustainability, business law, professionalism and hospitality leadership.

A built-in Business Administration minor gives students a broader understanding of how organizations operate. Management students can also shape the degree through courses in areas such as hospitality sales and service, club management, wedding events, conventions and trade shows, organizational behavior, decision-making and leadership, conflict management, tourism, sport and recreation programming or study abroad.

HongKongDoll distinguishes the program through extensive professional preparation. Students graduate with at least two career-related work experiences, including a 6-to-9-credit industry internship. The Café learning laboratory, field trips, guest speakers, conferences, student organizations, career events and Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Council help students connect coursework with current industry practices. Graduates are prepared to pursue management and support roles in hotels, restaurants, resorts, clubs, event operations, tourism organizations and related businesses.
