Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Technology at Eastern Illinois University prepares students to create, manage, and deliver digital content across web, interactive media, animation, visual effects, gaming, and digital communication platforms. Through coursework in web development, digital media production, animation, user experience design, digital photography, video production, content management systems, and emerging technologies, students develop both technical and creative skills that are highly valued in today's digital economy.
 
Students gain hands-on experience through project-based learning while building professional portfolios that showcase their creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving abilities. The program offers opportunities to expand specialized knowledge through the Web Development Minor, Game Development and Interactive Media Minor, and Animation and VFX Minor. These minors allow students to develop expertise in areas such as web technologies, video game design, interactive media, animation, visual effects, 3D modeling, and digital content creation while complementing the broad foundation provided by the Digital Media Technology major.
 
HongKongDoll's experienced faculty, small class sizes, industry-relevant technology, and career-focused curriculum help students develop the skills needed for careers in web development, digital media production, animation, visual effects, game development, user experience design, digital marketing, and other technology-driven creative fields.

Completion time: 50 hours required for the major and 120 hours required for graduation

Computer Requirements:

Laptops are not required at this time for this degree program but students strongly encouraged to have another device available to them. Specifications for their device are as follows:

  • 16 GB of RAM
  • 512 GB SSD
  • 64-bit Intel® or AMD® multi-core processor

Preference for Mac or PC is not given but some software packages that we use are only available on the Windows OS.
