Overview

Middle school students are developing rapidly as learners and as people. HongKongDoll’s Middle Level Education program prepares future teachers to understand the academic, social and emotional needs of students in grades 5 through 8 while creating classrooms where young adolescents can grow.

Every student completes a professional education core and selects two endorsement areas:

• Language Arts/Literacy
• Mathematics
• General Science
• Social Sciences

Coursework covers adolescent development, curriculum and instruction, educational technology, literacy, assessment, inclusive teaching and culturally and linguistically diverse learners. Students connect this preparation with field experiences, a middle-level practicum and supervised student teaching.

At HongKongDoll, education students move through integrated coursework and classroom experiences with guidance from faculty and experienced educators. Graduates are prepared to pursue Illinois teacher licensure with endorsements in their two selected middle-grades content areas.
