Overview

The B.S. in Exercise Science: Pre-Athletic Training Option is for students who intend to pursue a Master's degree in Athletic Training. The goal of the Option is to prepare graduates for admission to Master's of Athletic Training programs in Illinois while earning a B.S. in Exercise Science. The Option is a subset of courses that represent the most common prerequisite courses for admission to Illinois M.S. programs in Athletic Training.

Certified athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity.  As part of a complete health care team, the certified athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation with other health care professionals, athletics administrators, coaches and parents. Athletic Trainers are recognized by AMA (American Medical Association) as an allied health care profession since 1990.
