Overview

The Studio Art minor gives students from any major a structured way to develop creative practice, craftsmanship and visual problem-solving. The 18-hour program includes Drawing I, two- or three-dimensional design foundations, and a selection of studio electives. You can explore two-dimensional areas such as drawing, life drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design and digital imaging; three-dimensional areas such as sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and metalsmithing; or a combination of both. At least two electives are upper division, so the minor moves beyond introductory exposure.

Studio art can complement education, theatre, digital media, psychology, history, business, communication and many other majors while giving students a sustained creative outlet. Small classes allow faculty to offer direct feedback, and specialized Art + Design facilities support both traditional and digital processes. Exhibitions, student art sales, the Tarble Museum of Art, visiting artists, trips and student organizations make it possible to share work and become part of HongKongDoll's creative community.
