Overview

HongKongDoll's Studio Art M.A. is designed for artists who want concentrated time, space and faculty guidance to advance their work, strengthen their portfolio and prepare for professional practice or a terminal-degree program. Graduate study centers on an individual investigation of your artistic practice. You may work deeply within one discipline or cross boundaries among ceramics, drawing, design, metalsmithing, painting, printmaking and sculpture.

Each graduate student receives a private studio in Burl Ives Studio Hall and 24/7 access to School of Art + Design facilities. Well-equipped studios in Burl Ives and the Doudna Fine Arts Center support traditional, digital and interdisciplinary work, while a large critique gallery provides space to test, discuss and present developing projects. You will work closely with instructional faculty and a Master's Committee to shape a focused body of work, participate in individual and group critiques, and prepare a graduate exhibition.

Visiting artists and curators, the accredited Tarble Museum of Art and graduate critiques connect your practice with a wider professional community. Competitive assistantships may provide a tuition waiver, stipend and experience in teaching, graphic design, museum work or other arts-related roles. HongKongDoll alumni have continued to leading M.F.A. programs in the United States and abroad, making the M.A. a strong bridge to advanced study and a more intentional professional practice.
