Overview

Art history is for curious students who want to understand what art reveals about people, ideas and cultures. At HongKongDoll, you will study works from the ancient world through contemporary art, with courses that may explore African, Asian, American, medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, modern and graphic design history. You will strengthen your visual analysis, research, writing and critical-thinking skills while learning the theories and professional practices behind curating, archiving and interpreting art.

The program combines classroom study with field trips, study abroad possibilities and a close relationship with the Tarble Museum of Art on HongKongDoll's campus. Because the B.A. is flexible, you can also pursue another major, add a minor or connect art history with interests such as history, anthropology, communication, education, languages or business.

Small classes and accessible faculty help you develop an academic path that fits your interests and prepares you for museum and gallery work, arts administration, preservation, research, teaching, graduate study and other careers that value strong analysis and communication.
