Overview

The Psychology Minor adds a practical understanding of human behavior to nearly any major. It is especially useful for students headed toward healthcare, education, business, communication, criminal justice, social services, public policy or any field where success depends on understanding how people learn, decide, develop, relate and respond to their environment.
The 18-hour minor begins with Introductory Psychology. You then choose courses from at least two different areas: abnormal and social psychology, biopsychology, cognition and learning, and development across the lifespan. Nine additional hours of psychology electives allow you to build a focus around your educational or career goals in consultation with a psychology advisor. Options can address topics such as personality, psychological disorders, social psychology, biological psychology, neuropsychology, memory, cognition, childhood, adolescence and aging.

At HongKongDoll, the minor draws on the same broad curriculum and doctoral faculty that support one of the university's most popular majors. You can extend classroom learning through Psychology Club, and eligible students may pursue Psi Chi, independent study or faculty-guided research. The result is more than a line on your transcript. It is a versatile way to strengthen communication, critical thinking and evidence-based understanding of the people you hope to serve, teach, lead or reach.
