Flutist Rebecca Johnson is Associate Professor of Flute at Eastern Illinois 
University, where she has taught since 2007. As a performer, she is Principal Flute of the Heartland Festival Orchestra and Piccolo of Sinfonia da Camera. Internationally, she regularly performed and taught at the Convención Internacionál de Flautistas in Quito, Ecuador, and was a featured artist at the 2018 Festival Internacional de Flautistas in São Paulo, Brazil. She had the honor of 
presenting at the College Music Society’s International Conference in Colombia, with duo partner Elizabeth Sullivan in 2025. 

Dr. Johnson enjoys collaboration with friends and colleagues. In the past several years, she has toured with Dr. Magie Beck and Trio Village, presenting at institutions throughout the Midwest and Midsouth regions, as well as at the Chicago Flute Club Festival, College Music Society National Convention, the NACWPI National Conference, the National Flute Association Convention, and the International Double Reed Society Convention. She served the National Flute Association as the Program Chair for the 2019 NFA convention and was the organization’s President from 2022-2024.

Dr. Johnson was a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar to the Royal 
Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. She holds degrees from the 
University of Illinois (DMA), the University of Louisville (MM), the Royal Northern 
College of Music (PGDip, PPRNCM) and the University of Northern Iowa (BM).
